Deep Tissue, Relaxation, and Remedial Massage Melbourne

Massage is one of the best ways to ease tension & relax the body & mind. We offer a variety of styles of massage, everything from deep tissue, relaxation & remedial massage in our beautiful clinic in Melbourne.

Remedial / Deep Tissue / Sports

These styles of massage focus on the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissues, targeting specific areas of tightness and restriction. It works to release the chronic patterns of tension in the body, to allow for tissue detoxification and healing. This type of massage is ideal for sports people, chronic pain syndromes, injuries and those with severe muscle tension.

Swedish Relaxation

Swedish Massage is a relaxation massage that targets the uppermost layer of muscles. It utilises long, gliding strokes, as well as kneading techniques to induce relaxation and relief of tension.

Hot Stone Massage

This deeply relaxing style of massage utilises smooth basalt rocks that have been warmed to body temperature. Placed on specific parts of the body or used to glide across the body to release tension, hot stone massage gently warms the muscles to improve circulation and ease discomfort.

Lymphatic Drainage

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a specific technique that stimulates the body’s lymphatic system. The lymphatic system is the body’s first line of defence against disease and infection; it transports metabolic waste, excess fluid, toxins and bacteria out of the body.

An MLD involves light mechanical stretching of the connective tissue. This moves the lymphatic fluid under the skin towards the lymphatic nodes, where fluid is filtered. An MLD is great for detoxification, reducing oedema due to injury or lymphedema, and is great pre and post surgery. An MLD will also improve your immune system; according to research conducted by Bruno Chikly, the body will produce 30% more immunocompetent cells post MLD treatment.

Pregnancy Massage

A side-lying massage using specific pillow support, this beautiful therapy eases the discomfort of pregnancy and soothes the nervous system. Pregnancy massage helps to prepare the body for labour and also gives the expectant mother some well-deserved pampering. This therapy can be safely performed from 13 weeks gestation.

Facial Massage

A great way to improve the skin tone, facial massage eases tension, relaxes the upper body, assists in lymphatic drainage and improves the circulation. Incorporated into this treatment is cleansing and exfoliation of the skin, gua sha, and massage of the chest, neck and scalp. Facial massage is an excellent therapy for those with TMJ dysfunction, or in need of skin rejuvenation.

Indian Head Massage

This ancient technique has been practiced for over a thousand years in India, being passed down from generation to generation. It involves a sequence of energy balancing techniques, lymphatic drainage, acupressure points, stretching and general massage to the shoulders, neck, face and scalp. The techniques work on both the physical and ethereal body to soothe and relax the nervous system, stimulate the circulation and lymph, and relieve joint and muscle stiffness.

Indian head massage is an excellent therapy for tension headaches and eyestrain, both of which are common in the modern computer age.

Tui Na (Chinese Remedial)

Tui Na is an oriental bodywork therapy that has been used in China for thousands of years. With the application of massage and acupressure along the meridians and acupressure points, Tui Na moves stagnation and establishes a more harmonious flow of Ki (vital energy) through the body.

Tui Na massage tends to focus on specific problems in the body, stimulating the meridians relating to the troubled area. It is by nature a fairly firm massage, though your therapist will tailor the treatment to suit your individual needs.
